Industry Challenges
Manufacturing Challenges in This Industry

The manufacturing pain points our customers in this industry face most often — and how we address each one before it becomes a problem on your assembly line.

Precision gears shafts transmission machining

Tight Tolerance Control on Transmission Features

Servo and precision motion applications require AGMA Class 10 or better — pitch error, runout, and tooth profile deviation all controlled within specification. Standard turning alone is not sufficient for gear-quality requirements.

Accuracy Requirements for Mating Parts

Transmission systems involve multiple mating parts — gear pairs, shaft-hub interfaces, spline couplings. Each part must meet its individual tolerance so the assembled system achieves the required backlash and load-sharing performance.

Wear Resistance and Stable Performance

Gears and spline shafts accumulate millions of load cycles. Heat treatment, post-heat grinding, and surface treatment must be executed correctly to deliver the designed wear life — not just adequate first-article dimensions.

Consistency Across Repeat Batches

Production quantities of transmission parts must be dimensionally consistent from batch to batch. Gear quality and shaft fit variations between batches cause assembly issues and field reliability problems for your end customers.

Our Advantages
Why Customers in This Industry Work With Us

Specific machining, quality, and project support capabilities that match what this industry actually demands — not generic claims.

Gear inspection Klingelnberg measurement
CNC gear hobbing precision machining
Heat treatment case hardened gears
Spline shaft grinding precision measurement
01
Gear Inspection on Every Precision Order

Every precision gear receives a full profile, helix, pitch, and runout inspection report. This is not sampling — it is 100% inspection of critical gears with results you can use for your own incoming quality records.

02
Better Fit Control for Shaft and Hub Interfaces

We hold spline shaft and bore fits to DIN 5480 / ISO 4156 standards with the consistency that gives correct torque transmission and predictable backlash — reducing the assembly adjustment that wastes production time.

03
Heat Treatment Loop Managed In-House

Pre-heat cutting allowance and post-heat grinding are managed as a coordinated single process. No tolerance stack from multi-supplier handoffs. Final dimensions are correct after hardening, every batch.

04
Stable Repeatability from Sample to Production

Locked gear cutting programs and inspection fixtures from first article through production. Gear quality class is maintained across every batch — not just demonstrated on the first article.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions from engineers and procurement teams in this industry. Can't find your answer? Ask us directly →

We routinely cut to AGMA Class 10 (DIN Quality 5) by CNC hobbing on steel gears up to module 8. For Class 11–12, we hob to stock and finish-grind after heat treatment. Achievable class depends on module, diameter, material, and heat treatment — our engineers will advise for your specific gear.
Yes. We machine internal ring gears by internal gear broaching (small modules) and CNC internal gear hobbing or shaping (larger modules). Ring gears up to 300 mm internal diameter are within standard capability.
Yes. We machine worm and worm wheel as a matched pair. The worm wheel is hobbed using a hob that matches the worm geometry, ensuring correct contact pattern and backlash. Matched pairs are inspected and shipped together with a contact pattern test report.
Yes. Carburizing to case depth 0.6–1.5 mm CHD with surface hardness 58–62 HRC is our standard gear heat treatment. Post-carburize grinding restores tooth geometry. Hardness certificates are issued with every heat-treated batch.
Our smallest standard production gear is module 0.3, cut by CNC hobbing. Below module 0.3, we use EDM wire cutting or precision form grinding. Contact us with your module, number of teeth, and face width for a feasibility assessment.
We retain locked gear hobbing programs and setup sheets from first article through production. Gear inspection is performed on a sampling basis on every production batch, with full profile/pitch/runout reports available. Any batch not meeting the specified accuracy class is re-cut before delivery.
