Primary Applications of Copper Plating

Copper plating serves critical functional roles across electronics, industrial, and decorative applications.

Electrical Conductivity

Copper's near-perfect electrical conductivity makes it ideal for PCB through-hole plating, bus bars, and conductive components requiring maximum current capacity.

100% IACSPCB Grade

Plating Undercoat

Copper serves as an adhesion-promoting undercoat for nickel, chrome, and precious metal plating on steel, cast iron, and aluminum substrates.

Leveling LayerAdhesion Primer

EMI / RFI Shielding

Copper plating on plastic enclosures provides effective electromagnetic interference shielding for electronic equipment requiring conductive surfaces.

Copper Plating Process Steps

Both acid copper and pyrophosphate copper baths are available depending on substrate and application requirements.

01

Cleaning & Activation

Alkaline soak, electrolytic cleaning, acid pickle, and surface activation to ensure an oxide-free surface for deposition.

02

Strike & Deposition

Copper strike followed by main bath deposition. Acid copper for bright deposits; pyrophosphate for complex geometries.

03

Rinsing & Passivation

Multi-stage rinsing followed by optional tarnish inhibitor to protect copper surfaces from oxidation during storage.

04

Inspection & Testing

XRF thickness, solderability testing, conductivity verification, and visual inspection per applicable standards.

We operate both acid copper sulfate baths (for bright, leveled deposits on most substrates) and pyrophosphate copper baths (for direct plating on zinc alloys, aluminum, and complex geometries requiring gentler chemistry). Bath selection is based on your substrate material and application requirements.
Yes — copper is widely specified as an undercoat layer. It provides excellent adhesion, fills minor surface defects, and creates a leveled surface that improves the quality of subsequent nickel, chrome, or precious metal deposits. This is standard practice for decorative chrome systems on zinc die-cast and steel substrates.
Our acid copper deposits achieve 95–100% IACS, corresponding to electrical resistivity of approximately 1.7–1.8 μΩ·cm. This is suitable for all high-current and signal-integrity applications.
Yes. We plate copper on conductive-primed ABS, polycarbonate, and other plastic substrates for EMI/RFI shielding. The process includes an electroless copper strike followed by electrolytic copper build-up to the required film thickness.
Every order includes a Certificate of Conformance and XRF thickness report. For electronics, J-STD-003 solderability test certificates are available. IPC-4552 compliance documentation can be provided on request.
Parts receive benzotriazole (BTA) tarnish inhibitor after plating and are packed in anti-tarnish VCI packaging. For extended shelf life, an additional sealant coating can be applied on request.
