WEAR & IMPACT / 001–003 — FEATURED
Wear Guide Rails, Conveyor Liners & Impact Blocks
UHMW-PE wear-resistant guide rails (profile ±0.1mm, Ra ≤0.8μm sliding face, self-lubricating), conveyor chute liner strips (FDA 21 CFR 177.1520 natural white, profile ±0.1mm, noise-damping — UHMW-PE liner reduces metal chute impact noise by 10–15 dB vs bare steel), and impact protection blocks (highest impact energy absorption of all engineering plastics, Charpy 200+ kJ/m² — UHMW-PE buffer blocks absorb forklift and material handling impact loads that would shatter POM or nylon). UHMW-PE is the preferred conveyor liner material for food processing, mining, and heavy material handling because it combines the three properties that metal liners lack: self-lubricating (product slides easily without adhesion), noise-damping (dramatically quieter than metal), and non-contaminating (no metal particle shedding from wear). Natural white FDA-compliant for food-contact applications; black for industrial applications. Profile machined to drawing with ±0.1mm tolerance; T-slot and bolt patterns for standard conveyor attachment systems.

SLIDING & PROTECTION / 004–006
Sliding Plates, Protective Strips & Buffer Parts
UHMW-PE sliding and skid plates (flatness ±0.1mm, Ra ≤0.8μm), protective edge guard strips (profile ±0.1mm, impact-resistant, corrosion-proof — no rusting or peeling unlike rubber edge guards), and mechanical buffer parts (profile ±0.1mm, UHMW-PE's elastic modulus ~0.7 GPa and high elongation at break enable effective impact energy absorption without fracture).

Wear-Resistant Washers
UHMW-PE wear-resistant thrust washers and shims. Thickness ±0.1mm; Ra ≤0.8μm; self-lubricating. Lower cost alternative to PTFE sliding washers for applications where CoF 0.10–0.20 (UHMW-PE) is acceptable vs CoF 0.04 (PTFE) and maximum chemical resistance is not required. Excellent abrasion resistance in abrasive (grit-contaminated) environments where PTFE would wear rapidly.

Manufacturing Capability
What UHMW-PE Machining Requires
Sharp Tooling and Low Forces
🔪
Sharp Tooling — Waxy Surface Requires Clean Cut
UHMW-PE has a waxy, soft texture — dull cutting tools produce torn, fibrous surfaces rather than clean machined faces. Ra ≤0.8μm sliding surface finish requires extremely sharp carbide or HSS tooling with polished flutes and very light finishing passes. We replace tooling before it dulls on UHMW-PE — a worn tool produces worse surface quality on UHMW-PE than on any other engineering plastic.

Workpiece Support — Prevents Deflection
UHMW-PE elastic modulus ~0.7 GPa — 4× lower than nylon, 5× lower than POM. Thin sections and long profiles deflect significantly under machining forces and recover after cutting — producing dimensional inaccuracy. We design workholding fixtures that support the UHMW-PE part along its full length during machining, minimising unsupported deflection. Profile tolerance ±0.1mm (vs ±0.05mm achievable on stiffer plastics) reflects UHMW-PE's inherent machining limitation.

📏
Large Format Sheet — Up to 2000×1000mm
UHMW-PE sheet is available in large format (up to 2000×1000mm, 10–100mm thickness) — suitable for blanking conveyor liners, wear plates, and protective panels in large sizes that other engineering plastics cannot supply economically. We cut large UHMW-PE sheet to profile with CNC router, band saw, or water jet depending on profile complexity and thickness. Large format orders (full sheets) reduce per-part material cost significantly.

Our Advantage
Why Plant Engineers Choose Our UHMW-PE Parts
Imp
UHMW-PE vs Nylon for Impact Parts
We specify UHMW-PE (not nylon) for buffer blocks and impact protection parts where maximum energy absorption is required. UHMW-PE impact strength 200+ kJ/m² vs nylon ~80 kJ/m² vs POM ~35 kJ/m². Forklift collision buffer blocks in UHMW-PE survive repeated impacts that crack nylon alternatives.

Noise-Damping Conveyor Liners
UHMW-PE conveyor chute liners reduce impact noise by 10–15 dB vs bare steel chutes. This single property justifies the material cost premium in food-processing and packaging plants where noise regulations apply. We supply liners to T-slot bolt attachment standards for standard conveyor system retrofitting.

Large Format Sheet Available
UHMW-PE sheet up to 2000×1000mm in 10–100mm thickness — suitable for large conveyor wear plates and machine guards that cannot be sourced in other engineering plastics at comparable cost. CNC router profiling for complex large-format shapes.
H7?
Tolerance Advisory — H9/H10 Only
UHMW-PE cannot consistently maintain H7 bore tolerance — modulus is too low and deflection during machining too high. We advise H9/H10 bore as the practical tolerance for UHMW-PE. Customers specifying H7 in UHMW-PE are redirected to POM or PEEK as the appropriate material for precision bore applications.
Frequently Asked Questions
UHMW-PE Parts — Common Questions
Highest impact energy absorption of all common engineering plastics (200+ kJ/m² vs nylon ~80, POM ~35); self-lubricating (CoF 0.10–0.20); excellent wear resistance in abrasive environments; noise-damping; FDA 21 CFR 177.1520; lowest cost of the engineering plastics at comparable wear performance. Limitations: lower stiffness (±0.1mm tolerance, not H7 bore); max 80–100°C service. Specify POM for precision bore; UHMW-PE for maximum impact and wear at lower cost.
Yes — FDA 21 CFR 177.1520 compliant (natural white only). Excellent for food-processing conveyor chute liners: self-lubricating (reduces product adhesion), noise-damping (10–15 dB reduction vs bare metal), and cleaning-agent resistant (NaOH CIP, chlorine sanitisers). USDA/NSF approval available for dairy and meat processing applications.
Profile: ±0.1mm. Flatness: ±0.1mm. Thickness: ±0.1mm. Surface: Ra ≤0.8μm. Bore: H9/H10. H7 bore is not reliably achievable in UHMW-PE — material modulus too low. For H7 bore applications, specify POM or PEEK instead.
MOQ: 1 piece. Lead times: flat profiles: 3–7 days. Complex profiles: 5–10 days. Natural (FDA white) and black in stock. Large-format sheet (2000×1000mm, 10–100mm) available for large wear plates and conveyor liners. All UHMW-PE parts in clean PE bag packaging.
