How Zinc Plating Works

Our controlled electrodeposition process ensures uniform zinc coating thickness across complex geometries and tight-tolerance components.

01

Pre-Treatment & Cleaning

Parts are degreased, acid-pickled, and activated to remove oxide layers and contaminants for maximum adhesion.

02

Electrodeposition Bath

Parts immersed in zinc sulfate or zinc chloride electrolyte bath with controlled current density and temperature.

03

Chromate Passivation

Optional trivalent chromate passivation enhances corrosion protection with clear, yellow, or black finish options.

04

Inspection & QC

100% visual inspection with XRF thickness measurement, adhesion testing, and salt spray verification.

We offer zinc plating from 5 to 25 μm as standard. Thicker deposits up to 50 μm are available on request for high-corrosion environments. Every batch is verified by calibrated XRF measurement and reported on the Certificate of Conformance.
We offer four trivalent chromate passivation options: clear/blue (decorative, standard corrosion), yellow (enhanced corrosion protection), black (aesthetic and corrosion), and thick-film yellow (extended protection, >500 hrs NSS). All are RoHS-compliant Cr³⁺ systems — no hexavalent chromium.
Yes. Our alkaline zinc bath provides excellent throwing power, enabling uniform coating inside blind holes, recesses, threads, and complex 3D profiles. Racking design is optimised individually for each part to maximise coverage uniformity.
Yes. For parts with tensile strength above 1000 MPa (e.g. Grade 10.9 and 12.9 fasteners, spring steel), we apply a post-plate hydrogen embrittlement relief bake at 190–210°C for 4–24 hours per ASTM F519. A bake certificate is issued with every qualifying order. Please specify your steel grade and tensile strength when requesting a quote.
Every order includes a Certificate of Conformance (CoC) and XRF thickness measurement report. Salt spray test certificates (ASTM B117 / ISO 9227) are available on request or as standard on qualifying orders. Full material traceability and lot records are maintained for 3 years.
Our standard rack plating lines handle individual parts up to 600 × 400 × 300 mm. For larger structural parts, long shafts, or high-volume small hardware requiring barrel plating, please contact us with your part dimensions and we will advise on the most suitable process.
