Four PA6/PA66/MC Nylon motion parts — gears, pulleys, guide wheels, and shaft sleeves. Nylon's primary advantage over POM for motion applications: higher impact toughness (nylon gears resist sudden shock loads and tooth breakage better than POM), excellent oil-lubricated performance (nylon absorbs small amounts of oil and redistributes at contact surfaces — oil-lubricated nylon gears have outstanding durability), and lower noise at high speed. MC Nylon (monomer cast) provides higher molecular weight and better mechanical properties than extruded PA6 rod for large-section parts.

Nylon Gears — Shock-Absorbing, Low-Noise
PA6, PA66, and MC Nylon spur, helical, and bevel gears for drive trains requiring shock absorption, low noise, and self-lubrication. Nylon gears compared to POM gears: higher Charpy impact strength (no break vs ~35 kJ/m² for POM) — nylon gear teeth absorb sudden torque spikes and shock loads that would chip POM teeth; lower running noise at speeds above 1000 RPM — nylon's slightly higher elasticity damps gear mesh impact more effectively; superior oil-lubricated performance — a nylon gear running in an oil bath outperforms POM, bronze, and even steel gears for noise and longevity in many industrial gear applications because nylon absorbs a small amount of oil that is released as a boundary lubricant film at the tooth contact. Tooth profile CNC form milled (all modules) or hobbed (Module ≥0.5); bore H8 standard; bore/OD concentricity ≤0.05mm; face runout ≤0.05mm. MC Nylon preferred for gears OD >60mm — higher molecular weight provides better fatigue resistance in large cross-sections than extruded PA6 rod. MoS2-filled nylon for dry-running gear applications where oil lubrication is not possible.

Five MC Nylon and PA6 wear, support, and conveyor parts — wear strips, conveyor guide rail components, support pads, buffer elements, and industrial wear-resistant parts. MC Nylon's superior compressive creep resistance (compared to PA6 extruded rod) makes it the preferred material for support pads and load-bearing blocks under sustained static compressive load. PA6 and PA66 GF30 for structural industrial wear parts requiring higher stiffness.

WEAR & CONVEYOR / 003 & 006 — FEATURED
Wear Strips & Conveyor Rail Parts
MC Nylon and PA6 self-lubricating wear strips and conveyor chain guide rail components for material handling conveyor systems, automated assembly lines, and packaging machinery. Wear strip profile ±0.1mm; sliding face Ra ≤0.8μm; self-lubricating (nylon surface transfer film forms on steel chain links in contact, reducing chain wear). Conveyor guide rail parts: profile to conveyor manufacturer standard (Intralox, Rexnord, FlexLink), T-slot profiles, bolt attachment patterns. MC Nylon specified for wear strips >25mm section — superior fatigue and creep resistance vs extruded PA6 rod in continuous dynamic loading. PA6 natural (beige) or black standard; MoS2-filled dark grey for enhanced lubrication. Nylon vs POM for conveyor strips: nylon provides better energy absorption and quieter chain/product impact at guide transitions; POM provides better dimensional stability in wet cleaning environments. Specify nylon for dry or lightly oiled conveyors with impact loads; POM for wet food-processing conveyors with FDA and dimensional requirements.

What Nylon Machining Requires
Different from POM or Metal
💧
Moisture Pre-Conditioning
Nylon absorbs atmospheric moisture between machining and installation — dimensional change of 0.3–1.5mm per 100mm in full moisture equilibrium. For applications requiring bore fit at equilibrium moisture (oil-bath gearboxes, wet environments), we can pre-condition nylon parts by moisture equilibration before final bore finishing, or we machine bore slightly undersize and document the dry-machined vs wet-equilibrium dimensions for the customer's assembly process.

MoS2-Filled — Dry Running Self-Lube
MoS2-filled nylon (dark grey) has molybdenum disulphide particles dispersed in the PA6 matrix — CoF reduced to 0.10–0.20 dry (vs 0.25–0.45 unfilled PA6). Specified for gears, sleeves, and wear parts where oil lubrication is not available. MoS2 nylon maintains lower friction and surface temperature in dry continuous sliding contact — extending part life 2–5× vs unfilled nylon in dry applications.

📏
MC Nylon for Large Sections
MC Nylon (monomer cast) is produced by direct polymerisation in the mould — producing higher molecular weight and more uniform structure than extruded PA6 rod, especially in large cross-sections. For nylon parts >50mm diameter or thickness: specify MC Nylon for consistent mechanical properties through the full cross-section. Extruded PA6 rod in large diameters can have non-uniform crystalline structure and lower properties near the centre.

Our Advantage
Why Engineers Choose Our Nylon Parts
Imp
Nylon vs POM — Correct Material for Shock
We advise nylon for shock-loaded gears and buffer parts — not POM. POM is stiffer and has tighter bore tolerance but chips under impact loading. Nylon's impact toughness makes it the correct choice for gears with sudden torque reversals, buffer stops, and vibration-absorbing parts.
MC
MC Nylon for Large Sections
We specify MC Nylon (cast nylon) for parts >50mm diameter — not extruded PA6 rod which may have non-uniform properties in large sections. MC Nylon's higher molecular weight ensures consistent mechanical properties through the full cross-section of large gear blanks and support pads.
H₂O
Moisture Swelling Advisory
We discuss moisture environment at DFM review for all nylon bore applications. Nylon bore machined to H8 in dry condition may close up to H9/H10 in full moisture equilibrium. We document dry-machined bore and provide wet-equilibrium bore estimate for customer assembly planning.
Oil
Oil-Lubricated Nylon — Outstanding Life
Oil-lubricated nylon gears (running in oil bath or periodic oil drip) have outstanding wear life — nylon absorbs a small amount of oil and releases it as boundary film at tooth contact. We recommend oil lubrication for all nylon gear applications where it is practical — it is the most effective way to maximise nylon gear life.
Frequently Asked Questions
Nylon PA / MC Nylon — Common Questions
MC Nylon (monomer cast): polymerised directly in mould — higher molecular weight, lower porosity, better fatigue and creep resistance than extruded PA6 rod. Best for large sections >50mm (gears, support pads). PA6: general-purpose, good impact toughness, self-lubricating. PA66: higher heat resistance (265°C melt vs 220°C PA6), slightly stiffer. PA66 GF30: glass-filled, 5 GPa stiffness, higher operating temp — for structural industrial parts. Key limitation of all nylon: moisture absorption 2.5–8% — bore dimensions change in wet service. Specify POM for H7 bore in wet environments.
Nylon advantages: (1) Higher impact toughness — nylon teeth absorb shock loads that chip POM; (2) Better oil-lubricated performance — nylon in oil bath outperforms POM; (3) Lower noise at speed >1000 rpm. POM advantages: tighter bore tolerance in wet environments (H7 vs H8); better dimensional stability; lower moisture absorption. Rule: shock loads or oil lubrication → nylon. Precise bore fit in wet environments → POM.
Bore: H8 (±0.027–0.052mm). OD runout: ≤0.1mm. Profile: ±0.1mm. Face flatness: ±0.1mm. Surface: Ra ≤0.8μm. Note: nylon bore may close up in wet service due to moisture swelling — discuss operating environment at DFM for bore compensation. MoS2-filled nylon available for dry running CoF 0.10–0.20.
MOQ: 1 piece. Lead times: turned parts: 3–7 days. Milled profiles: 5–10 days. Gears: 7–14 days. MC Nylon large-section rod: add 3–5 days material procurement. All nylon parts sealed in moisture-barrier packaging — nylon absorbs moisture in storage and changes dimension if left unpackaged before installation.
