We specify DZR (CW602N) for potable water fitting applications without needing to be asked. Most suppliers assume C36000 is acceptable for all plumbing applications — it is not in hot chlorinated water. We advise on grade selection at DFM review. The correct grade costs marginally more; a field failure in a potable water system costs significantly more.

Machinability 100 — C36000 Always
We never substitute a slower-machining brass grade to reduce material cost when the application specifies or permits C36000. Lower machinability means slower cutting, more tool wear, worse surface finish, and less consistent dimensional results. C36000's machinability rating of 100 delivers the lowest cost-per-part for brass CNC work — not a different grade that is cheaper as a billet but costs more to machine.

Gold Plating XRF Verified on RF Orders
Gold plating thickness measured by XRF for RF connector and signal contact pin orders. A 0.2μm nominal gold specification on a connector pin can vary from 0.05μm to 0.5μm across a plating batch without XRF measurement — the 0.05μm parts will fail contact resistance specification in service. We verify thickness per batch and document the measurement in the plating certificate.

Thread 100% Go/No-Go — Every Part
All threaded brass parts inspected with calibrated go/no-go gauges — 100% per piece, not sampled per batch. A batch with one out-of-tolerance thread that a sampling plan missed is an assembly problem at the customer. Thread gauge inspection is one of the lowest-cost quality operations in machining — there is no reason to sample it instead of 100% inspecting.

Use SS316L instead: chlorinated water exposure, marine salt water immersion, chemical processing, food contact, pharmaceutical contact, and temperatures above 200°C.
